Two more housing firms have been successful in getting housing law contracts by issuing judicila review applications against the LSC.

Inside Housing reports today:

"Matthew Carr, partner at Fahri Jacob, said two lawyers had already left their five-strong team. ‘We had resigned ourselves [to the fact] that we would not get the contract.’

Shilpa Mathuradas, partner at Osbornes, said her firm was now expanding its six-strong team.

The LSC said it awarded the contracts through a ‘verification process’, not because of the judicial reviews."

But Michael Paget from the Housing Law Practictioners Association is quoted as warning: ‘I don’t think a lot of firms are going to find it viable to work under a contract anyway,’ Mr Paget said. ‘The coalition government’s proposals to reduce rates of pay by 10 per cent will severely affect their profit.’
