I attended an LSC Worksop on 24th May. One very interesting issue was raised. Solicitors can claim payment for file reviews although the LSC attendee said that very few do. As we are now in a Unified Contract will we be able to claim payment for file reviews? The LSC staff didn't know but this must be worth following up. Any little extra helps!
Previously solicitors could claim for file reviews - I think it was about £18 per completed file review - the total claim for file reviews was reported annually - unfortunately in the LSC's wisdom under the unified contract no-one gets paid for file reviews
crc is correct, solicitor contract holders were able to claim for file review but this will not be the case within the UC from October - they used to be able to claim it either by item cost or by time spent. The NfP sector had always argued that NfP organisations should have similar latitude within their contract - the LSC never agreed
It's a little disappointing that the LSC were not able to confirm this at a workshop they had arranged and were leading on the changes
