My perception is that the new chiefs at Law Soc only woke up to the one-sided nature of this contract recently and have been naive in getting legalistic over it. I note that all their bluster has produced very few changes and their bluff has been called by the LSC. What a surprise.
The LSC has always been a monopsonist (look it up!) with huge power over those of us who want to do public-funded law. Of course the contract is one-sided - it always was since franchising over 10 years ago!
For the NfP caseworkers who work in a sector where job insecurity is endemic I don't think the various provisions on unilateral changes/termination are any worse than other funders. For us the devil is in the detail - we need the contract Specification asap so we can negotiate to try and retain some flexibility over how we work from October.

Yes, the LSC have said that they intend to publish it for consultation today. It is likely that it will first go to ASA Law Society and LAPG, who will provide the interface for consultation/negotiation between the legal advice sector and the LSC
It isn't clear at what point it will be widely available to everyone - hopefully the LSC will put it up on their website as soon as possible, maybe even later today although this is by no means certain
I'll let everyone know when a circulation version is available but, if anyone is watching the LSC site and spots it first then by all means update this item for everyone's benefit
Also, if you read nothing else, be aware of Annex G whoich contains the Key Performance indicators: 1: Your end code reports must demonstrate you provided "substantive" benefits to the client 2 and 3: any assessed bills (certificated work or exceptional controlled cases) must not be marked down more than 10% by the LSC on average 4: You must do work to an average of 80% of the "value" of the fixed fee in every case (see my attempt to explain this in the case averages thread on this forum) 5: You must open a minimum of 85% of the matter starts quota you are given 6: You must think only positive thoughts about the LSC 100% of the time (just testing, but i'm afraid the others are no joke)
