We presented a Justice for All petition containing 129 signatures to Harlow's MP, Robert Halfon on Friday. Representatives of four local organisations providing legal aid services attended the meeting. Three private practice firms providing family and other help and Harlow Welfare Rights & Advice (HWRA). I attended on behalf of HWRA. HWRA holds LSC contracts for housing, benefits, debt and employment. We gave the MP Justice for All leaflets and agreed to provide further information, including local case studies, asap. We were only collecting signatures for just over a week before the lobby so didn't have many. We told the MP that the reaction of those who signed indicated that we could have collected many more signatures had time allowed. I wrote to the MP in December urging him to attend a legal aid debate organised by the opposition. It clashed with a select committee meeting he was due to attend so he didn't go.
Great stuff wrasjj-did you send him a copy of the information briefing SHUSH which Patrick who runs this site prepared-this is brilliant at getting the key points across in a readily understandable way-link below
