Justice for All have sent an e-mail to all members today 7.06.11 asking everyone to e-mail Justice for All if they have contacted their MP's about the legal aid cuts. Please provide J4A with details of the MP's name and any response indicated by the MP. This may prove important later in directing and targeting the campaign at specific MP's once legislation gets going, both in knowing which MP's are likely to be supporters and who is wavering/against etc. Please e-mail J4A-here is their campaign e-mail address below. Please also inform your colleagues and anyone else who may have been/is in contact with MP's re this. Please also chase up colleagues who haven't got round to doing anything yet.
May also be sensible to let J4A know if you have had any contact with members of the House of Lords on legal aid cuts and their position. If anyone is a member of Sound Off/has contacts with Sound off may make sense for them to do the same/liaise with J4A on this. If you haven't already contacted your MP their site explains how to do this and has a draft letter. Please also ask any clients who want to help to write to their MP. We have already got quite a few clients to do this and it is effective. You could either do this during a case or ask them on closing if you have had a good result to write to the MP. If necessary you can help them with a draft/details of the MP's address.
