Is anyone now lobbying for the retention of LSC debt work beyond the government's own proposals ? It may mark the end of serious debt work in many agencies. What's left in Legal Help will not pay for a worker in most places. The money Advice Service seem to be reshaping FIF advice into increased no.s of smaller cases. The £20m no, £16.8m, i s seen by many as not necessarily replacing LSC debt / benefit workers but any service including generalist outreach. If no one is lobbying for us now please let us know.

If you look at Financial Services Bill there is an amendment to this which would sort of bring debt issues back into scope in a very round about way by attaching it to the financial services levy/Money Advice Service - see p 4260 amend 55..may be debated today..

Is anyone lobbying for getting consumer credit act back into scope as i undertand it is going? It sometimes has legal defences in debt -eg hp agreements. also unfair relationships ( the new exorbitant credit bargain)- cos can be secured loans on homes...putting home at risk.
Government kept in scope debt /housing when home at risk.
