Hello, all i though i would put this on ilegal so you all know what some CAB across the coutry are doing this week! 18th - 22nd June 2012
See below
Following the success of their last Live Tweet Week, in March, Wychavon Citizens Advice Bureau is again taking the lead, with more than 25 other CABs across the country joining them. The bureaux will be using social networking website Twitter to broadcast all their activity during the week of 18-22 June 2012. This will include client enquiries (anonymously), administration, social policy work, training etc. The individual bureaux will also be joined by staff at Citizens Advice and their Specialist Supports Teams.
It is hoped that this exercise will help to further raise the profile of individual bureaux, as well as the service itself. It will also hopefully highlight that each bureaux is an individual charity, staffed predominantly by volunteers (90% at Wychavon CAB), as well as demonstrating the sheer volume, variety and quality of the service they all offer their local communities.
The feedback from the general public during the last Live Tweet Week was very encouraging, for example:
“A very good way to show the value of what you do and how legal aid must stay for welfare”
“Fascinating insight into social needs in UK”
“Great insight into the great advice-giving going on around the country”
Ruth Davies, Manager of Wychavon CAB, said:
"We are delighted that colleagues at bureaux across the country will be joining this initiative, which has been developed and promoted with great enthusiasm by one of our volunteers.” .

This is a great opportunity for us specialists to take part in #CABlive week. All bureau work as part of a team and where cases are referred on for specialist work we should be using opportunities like this to highlight what those cases are. It helps clarify the distinction as to what specialist work is all about. I'm going to set up a post on mylegal for the work we do every day (this week) in our specialist help unit and the bureau will tweet the link out so people can get a better idea of what it is we do. This can also extends to cases which are picked up by the bureau and who need referring on to external specialists.
If anyone wants a hand to do the same thing for their organisation then by all means let me know and we can tweet it out. Anyone interested should use both #CABlive and #Specialist as hash tags on Twitter to make the point over where we are talking about the specialist area of work we are assisting our clients with.
I'll post the link a bit later once I've set up the post.

here's the link to the thread I've put up on Mylegal. There will be a post for each day. It's already had a hit this morning including a good mention by Citizens Advice. If anyone wants to run a similar thread for their organisation and can link it in to #CABLive then please do, it's a great opportunity to spread the specialist message and show how integral we are to the CAB service.
