Legal aid lawyers breathed a huge sigh of relief with the comprehensive destruction of the disgusting and fascistic residence test for legal aid at the hand of the courts earlier this month. We had been preparing for all the forms to change to incorporate ridiculous and racist declarations of Britishness or whatever from 4 August.
Well to get us back somewhat the Agency are demanding that the forms change from 4 August anyway, so there. Ya boo sucks to us!
"The following forms have been updated for August and previews are available below the current form on the relevant pages: •CIVAPP1, 3, 5, 6, 8 & 8A •ADMIN1 •MEANS1, 2 (+ guides), MEANS3 •CIVCLAIM1, 1A, 5 & 5A •CW1&2, 3, 4, & CWC(MH) •ECLAIM1(CIV), (MH) & (IMM) These forms are mandatory from 4 August and old versions signed on or before 3 August should be submitted before 31 August to avoid rejection. Any forms signed on or after 4 August must be the new version."
The changes are of course utterly pointless and irrelevant, eg: - the APP1 gets a bit where clients who presumably don't trust their solicitors can nominate someone else to deal with the Agency (I kid you not) - the App8 - gets a change to solicitors certification - can't see anything else - Means1,2 et al just seem much shoutier with bigger warnings about being prosecuted for giving wrong info.
It looks like the usual CW1 doesn't change in fact but I wouldn't bet on it. The announcement suggests it does but the new version is not there - keep checking the forms page because typically there has be NO news announcement yet. After all it's a whole 5 days away.
